Currently in charge of day to day running of Hospital Serdang’s 16 bedded intensive care unit (ICU) and High dependency unit (HDU); able to perform bronchoscopies, percutaneous tracheostomies and transthoracic echocardiogram. Also involved in providing general and regional anaesthesia for elective and emergency cases in general and paediatric surgical, vascular, othorhinolaryngology, dental, obstetrics & gynaecology and orthopaedics. Able to perform central neural axial blocks (which includes spinal and epidural blocks), other abilities include performing ultrasound guided peripheral blocks such as supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary, femoral and sciatic blocks.
2. Clinical Specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care

Completed gazettement period from 10th June to 9th December 2009 comprising of 3 months in intensive care and 3 months in general anaesthesia under the supervision of Dr Lim Wee Leong (Head of Department and Consultant Anaesthesiologist). Have been actively involved in the management of H1N1 and neurosurgical patients in the intensive care unit under the guidance of Dr Shanthi Ratnam (Intensive Care Unit Consultant).

Postgraduate training in Anaesthesia and Intensive care, initially under the supervision of Assoc, Professor Syed Rozaidi Wafa Syed Hussain Wafa, and Dr Joanna Ooi Sui Min, Successfully sat for the Primary Examination (Part 1) in basic medical sciences in Nov 2006 and Final Examination (Part 11) in May 2009. Completed dissertation title ‘CLASSIC LMA VS AMBU LMA IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING ANAETHESIA’.
4. Medical Officer in Anaesthesia
June 2003 – May 2005
Trained and supervised by a Consultant Anaesthesiologist (Dr Fauziah Yusoff) and 3 Clinical Specialists (Dr Naim Tan Abdullah, Dr Zalina Abd Razak, Dr Nor Azlin Dahlan) in handling general and paediatric cases in the operating theatre as well as managing patients in a 6 bedded Intensive Care Unit. Being in an Endocrine Centre, I have had exposure in handling endocrine surgical cases. I am also involved in The Acute Pain Services team whereby we manage postoperative pain relief for patients. I have had the opportunity to attend Conferences with regards to acute pain services as well as National Conference of Intensive Care and I have participated in the Anaesthesia Crises Resource Management Course.
5. Maternal Child Health Officer

Joined the Department after 2 months it was opened. Being a new unit, there was a lot of work to be done in setting up the unit. I was working under the Deputy director of Public Health JKWPKL (Dr Zainab). Initially the main task was to improve the conditions of all the health clinics under the Department. I was involved in providing new equipment and budgeting for the clinics. I have had to organize many meetings and courses for the medical officers of the clinics to improve the management of health care. Occasionally I will be working at the clinics as well whereby I have to relief clinics without a doctor.
I was involved in the planning and setting up the Maternal Child Health Unit. I was working very closely with the Nutritionist and Health Education Officer in educating the public regarding health issues. I was the head of most of the Health camps held by the Department and I also had the opportunity to become the Liaison Officer of Kuala Lumper and Putrajaya during the World Health Survey in 2003.
I was also involved during the 13thNAM Conference, whereby I was part of the health operational team in Kuala Lumper. During the SARS outbreak, I was given the task to become the Head of the SARS Operation team in Kuala Lumper and Putrajaya. I had gained a lot of experience in handling new cases, contact tracing as well as educating the public.
6. Medical Officer in Accident & Emergency

Following housemanship, I joined the Emergency Department whilst waiting for posting. It as a valuable experience indeed, in which case I had the opportunity to handle the cases at first hand. I learn to intubate and manage various acute cases. I had a good Consultant (Assoc Prof Dr Azhar) who trained and taught us on how to handle different types of cases. I also attended the Basic Trauma Course organized by the department.
7. Housemanship in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetric & Gynaecology

I started my first rotation in Obstetric and Gynaecology. Trained and supervised under (Prof Dr Zainol Rashid Mohamad Razi). I had the experienced in handling deliveries as well as assisting during caesarean section. Apart from ward work, I was also assisting during gynaecology surgeries.
My 2nd rotation was Medicine. I was supervised by 3 different Consultants (Prof Dr Aminuddin Hj Ahmed, Prof Dr Raymond Azman Ali and Dato’ Dr Norella Kong), as there were rotations within the Department.
My last rotation was Surgery supervised by 2 consultants (Prof Dr Jasmi Ali Yaccob and Assoc. Prof Dr Sukumar). I was exposed to various expects of General surgery. I had the opportunity to do several appendicectomies and managing acute surgical cases.
